Meet Frédéric, our Project Manager Diabetes

What do you do at Voluntis?

I manage the development of the Diabetes projects to ensure we deliver on time and on budget while respecting the quality standards of Voluntis. I coordinate the activities of all the departments, identify and raise the potential issues and plan the project development accordingly.

What made you want to work at Voluntis?

I wanted to work on an innovative medical device to help patient lives and share my experience in a human-sized company.

What previous experience do you bring to Voluntis?

I always worked in the software medical device field. I started my career as a software developer and then moved to a technical leader role for GE Healthcare where I stay for about ten years. Then, I worked as a project manager for eleven years to lead a 3D modeling workstation project starting from the ground. This allowed me to get a hand in all the fields related to a medical device development: software development, testing, risk analysis, labeling, quality and regulatory, etc.

Frédéric Tan, Project Manager Diabetes at Voluntis

Why do you like working at Voluntis?

I greatly appreciate the people I work with. There is real team spirit with all team members engaged to deliver the best possible product and people caring for each other.

What is the most interesting part of working at Voluntis?

As a project manager, I am in touch with diverse professions (developer, tester, medical expert, risk analyst, marketing, …) and so I work with people with vastly different characters and point of views which lead to a lot of enriching interactions and challenges. Being able to bring everybody together to reach a common goal, which is to create a solution that will actually help people deal with their disease, is really rewarding.

Describe the Voluntis culture in 3 words.

Skills, kindness and commitment

If you were on death row, what would your final meal be?

It would be hard to choose as I like so many things. I would probably choose a “Tartiflette” because it reminds me the numerous dinners with my friends and family.

If you could live in a book, TV show or movie, which one would it be?

I would love to live in the enchanted world of the Ghibli studio’s movies for the beauty, magic and poetry that comes with it.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be and how would you use it?

I would eradicate the hate and fear of each other, as well as the greediness that led to the huge inequalities. I suppose that would mean I should have mind control. But I am not sure it would be a good idea for anyone to have this kind of power… Dunking a basketball would be nice too!
