Meet Lisa, our Senior Manager, Medical Affairs Diabetes

What do you do at Voluntis?

My daily mission is to help lead the team to create our diabetes product. Living with diabetes is challenging and I am passionate about helping people and their families find helpful solutions to live better lives.

When did you join Voluntis?

I came to Voluntis during Covid-19 (2020) pandemic, so I have yet to meet anyone face-to-face or even mask-to-mask. I look forward to meeting everyone, soon!

What previous experience do you bring to Voluntis?

Early in my career, I worked with the critically ill. What stood out to me is how sick someone with diabetes could be one day and how miraculously they could improve the next. I also noticed an incredible drive to succeed and to live well that I did not usually see in other people with chronic illness. Since diabetes was in my family, I took notice. I became a diabetes educator, pump trainer and advocate for people affected by this disease.

Over the past 25 years, I have cared for thousands of people with diabetes and trained hundreds of healthcare providers best practices for diabetes care. I have traveled the country, chaired committees, spoken publicly and lobbied local and national legislators to spread the word on the importance of diabetes prevention and proper treatment. My career led me to become a Nurse Practitioner and I worked in one of the most active and prestigious medical/research practices in the Diabetes world. My experience combined with my leadership position at Voluntis affords me the ability to intuitively design products with the team that assist people with diabetes to live better lives.

Lisa Kinblinger, Senior Manager, Medical Affairs Diabetes

Why do you like working at Voluntis?

Voluntis gives me the chance to make a difference in potentially millions of people’s lives. This has been a career-long goal of mine. One of our test participants said she felt like our products are offering a helping hand instead of badgering people, this is so important!

Another great thing about Voluntis is the kindness people show to one another. I feel very close to my teammates even though we have never been in a room together. I have the greatest respect for everyone I work with. It is a great team.

What made you want to work at Voluntis?

Firstly, I am an early adopter. I see the biotech field as the next standard of care for people with diabetes. Secondly, Before I took the position in Medical Affairs, I researched Voluntis extensively.

I was impressed with the mission statement: Voluntis creates digital therapeutics that empower people suffering from chronic conditions to self-manage their treatment every day, in remote collaboration with their care teams, to improve their real-world efficacy.

Lastly, the Voluntis values are in line with mine: Patient centricity, passion for innovation, respect and integrity and finally drive for excellence.

What is the most interesting part of working at Voluntis?

Working on a project that seems so abstract and then later being able to download the app on my phone and watch it start working. It is like having something come to life in your hands. Incredible!

Describe the Voluntis culture in 3 words.

French, polite and joyful!

If you were on death row what would your final meal be?

Homemade Tamales de rajas made by an old friend!

If you could live in a book, TV show or movie which one would it be?

Probably something in the future and nerdy since I am a fan of technology and of futuristic shows. Star Trek, maybe.

If you could have one superpower what would it be and how would you use it?

My superpower wish is flight. At first, I would fly around the world just to see all the beauty. Then I could fly around the world to remote areas to help people with my gifts.
